Today we are going to share best places to visit in North East India. It has seven states namely Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, Mizoram, Nagaland, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh. North-East India has a unique name people usually call it as “The Unexplored Paradise”. Lets have a look!!
Mawlynnong, Meghalaya
After living root bridge you can go to Mawlynnong it is asia’s cleanest village. Mawlynnong is a village in the East Khasi Hills district of the Meghalaya state It comes under the Pynursla community development block and Vidhan Sabha (legislative assembly) constituency.
Mawlynnong is located 90 km from Shillong, along the India-Bangladesh border Entry in the village is free. Food is cheap Rs 100 for Thali There are more than 100 families living in village. Agriculture is the chief occupation of the local population with betel nut being the main crop. As is the tradition of the Khasi people, in Mawlynnong property and wealth.

Living Root Bridge, Meghalaya
Our First destination is Meghalaya. From Guwahati we are going to Shillong from Shillong we are heading to Living Root bridge. To go in entire Meghalaya private vehicle is better option as Govt. transport is very poor. Entry fees is Rs 10 and You have to walk about 45 minutes including steps so over healthy people will take more time.
This bridge has made by living root of rubber tree It is more popular tourist destination in Meghalaya. It will take 2.30 hrs to reach from shillong. Length of bridge is 50 meter there is also double decker bridge in meghalaya at the end of this bridge there are steps upward that goes to Bangladesh view point Entry fees Rs 30.
Dawki, Meghalaya
Dawki or Dauki is a town in West Jaintia Hills district, Meghalaya, Dawki Bridge, is a suspension bridge over the Umngot River. Some 500 trucks cross the border every day in peak season road is not so good but side scene is amazing River water is crystal clear boating is also available in river Rs 500 per boat. it can accommodate about 8-10 person you will get one round of about 45 minute. it is must have experience. It also had india Bangladesh border. there are Bangladeshi vendors selling food stuff. you can buy in Indian Rupees.
Mawsmai Cave, Meghalaya (Sohra)
Mawsmai cave is near Cherrapunjee (now called as Sohra) Entry fees is Rs 30 they also charge for parking Rs 30 per vehicle. This is natural cave the road inside is very small so be careful Entry point to exit point it will take about 45 minutes to come out. If you want to really enjoy and watch it carefully then it will take 60 minute suggest you to carry torch for better visibility. due to water some of the floor are slippery so better take care. Don’t be hurry to come out, there will be crowd inside. if you have not visited any cave before then it is must see place for you.
Unakoti Hill, Tripura
Unakoti hill, literally meaning one less a koti in Bengali, It is the prime tourist spot of Unakoti District Tripura in the Kailashahar Subdivision in Tripura It will take 4 hours to reach by private vehicle. you won’t find much outside tourist there. It is Shiva pilgrimage and dates back to 7th – 9th centuries if not earlier. It will take about 1-2 hours to see. you can get private vehicle for 4500/ day or you can come to kailashahar one way from there take auto. it has ancient/historical importance.
The Ujjayanta Palace, Mawlynnong
The Ujjayanta Palace is a museum and the former palace of the Kingdom of Tripura situated in Agartala, Most popular in Tripura you can get autoriksha from bus station. it will take about 2 hours to see it. The palace was constructed between 1899 and 1901 by the King of Tripura, Maharaja Radha Kishore Manikya Entry fees is RS 15 It opens at 11 to 6pm, 1.30 to 2pm is lunch break.
It will be closed on every monday, 2nd and 4th saturday and all public holidays.The palace was purchased from the royal family by the Government of Tripura in 1972-73 for Rs. 2.5 million used to house the State Legislative Assembly until July 2011 Ujjayanta Palace is now a State Museum it primarily showcases the lifestyle, arts, culture, tradition and utility crafts of communities .

Mizoram State Museum, Mizoram
Residing in North-East India, Aizawl is the capital of the state of Mizoram in India is the largest city in the state population over 294000 Domestic tourists require the Inner Line Permit (ILP) for entry into Mizoram ILP can be obtained from the Liaison Officers in New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Guwahati, Shillong, and Silchar. There is shopping street just walk 15 min from city center. you can get all the needy things and men’s and women’s accessories. no much outsiders but locals are more. It is little bit expensive if compared to other part like Delhi or Mumbai for obvious reason.
Aizawl is connected by road with Silchar through National Highway 54, 10 minute walking distance from city center. Entry fee is Rs 20 Opening time 10-3.30pm, Saturday 10-2pm Closed on Sunday and on all holidays. There are five galleries: Textile Gallery, Ethnology, History, Anthropology, Natural History, and Archeology Terrace. The collection occupies four floors. The museum was established in April 1977 In 1989 it came under Art and Culture department, up till now n 14 July 1990 it was moved to a new building, at Mc Donald Hill. It will requires 2 hours to explore.
Ima Keithal, Manipur
Ima Keithal is the world’s largest women’s market. you won’t see single man selling stuff in this market. The market stalls are all run by women you can get here all the needy and souvenirs. the stuff brings from nearby villagers it will required 1-1.30 hours to see.
It opens at 4am and remain open till 6pm. no Entry fee Shaheed Minar made in the memory of soldiers who sacrifies their lives in war. you can cover all sightseeing in one day Govindajee temple will open in the morning and evening. Entry is free. Manipur state museum is walking distance from ima keithel market. Monday closed. opening time 10 am to 4pm.
Shungaster Lake, Arunachal Pradesh
This is PTSO lake you will see on the way to Shungaster lake Some people prefer to go Bumla pass and then to Shungaster lake. Shungaster lake is most beautiful lake in whole north east india. Entry is free you can easily spend 2 hours here. It also called as Madhuri Lake. one song has been filmed here with Madhuri dixit so it called as Madhuri Zeal.
The Palace of Kangla, Manipur
The Palace of Kangla is an old palace at Imphal in Manipur Entry fee is Rs 10 opening time 9am to 4pm It is 30 minute walking distance from Thangal Bazar It will take 2 hours to see. The Imphal War Cemetery is located in Imphal, the capital of the Indian state of Manipur Entry is free. The cemetery has 1,600 Commonwealth soldiers of the Second World War This is street market in thangal bazar very cheap things available and always crowded.
Hornbill Festival, Nagaland
Hornbill festival is most popular festival in north east india. Which is held at Kisama village 16 km away from kohima. Held every year in December from 1 to 10 This is exhibition. which showcase traditional things like ornaments, jewellery, clothes, utensils, weapons etc.
Guwahati to Tawang Road
Guwahati to Tawang road is considered one of the top 10 road for road travel. It should be top road in north east india in terms of scenic journey. whole journey is amzing and unforgetful It will take 2 days to reach to Tawang from Guwahati. Nobody travels in night. From Guwahati you have to halt either at Tezpur or Bomdila. From Tezpur it will cost you Rs 750 to 800 for shared sumo. you will leave Tezpur at 6am and reach Tawang 7pm. Enjoying snow fall in Tawang.
Tawang Monastery
Tawang Monastery is in Tawang district in Arunachal Pradesh It is the largest monastery in India and second largest in the world From city center it will take 1.30 hours on foot to reach Tawang Monastery. Entry is free. It will take 1 hour to see. The monastery is situated near the top of a mountain, at an elevation of about 10,000 feet It is triple storied with a large assembly hall 65 residential quarters for students, Lamas and monks It was built in 1860-61 A large image of Buddha of 18 feet (5.5 m) height is
deified.

The Assam State Zoo cum Botanical Garden
The Assam State Zoo cum Botanical Garden (popularly known as Guwahati Zoo) It is the largest of its kind in the North East region and it is spread across 432 acre (175 hectare).
